Wakefield: famous for sculpture, art and culture. As a place of funky food festivals, historic castles, and rugby league. And a proud industrial heritage based on coal, iron and farming.
We’ve lots of great stories to tell and communities to celebrate. We’re also tackling some big challenges. Rising demand for our children and adult services, and the impact of inflation are just some of the pressures we’re working with.
All this presents really exciting opportunities for someone who’s truly passionate about delivering great communications. That make a difference.
We’re looking for a highly experienced PR, media and marketing expert to join our newly established External Communications function.
We’re an award-winning Communications team. And can offer you a role where you can create, bring your own ideas, and try new things. And where you’ll be trusted to work right across the Council to dig out great news stories, promote services and deliver campaigns.
You’ll also continuously improve and manage Wakefield’s reputation. Supporting our services to tackle the challenges facing local government. And helping us create a Council that’s ready for the future.
You’ll be able to work independently. Be comfortable adapting to fast-changing situations. And be able to handle a range of competing priorities. You’ll be confident providing expert advice and professional challenge. Across all levels, including our political leadership team and senior officers.
You’ll have worked in a large organisation and understand the needs of both internal and external customers.
In return, you’ll be well supported by your colleagues and trusted to work independently.
You’ll benefit from our commitment to a great work life balance. Our strong focus on equality, diversity and inclusion. And a generous annual leave entitlement, alongside a range of other employee benefits like healthcare, public transport and gym memberships discounts.
If this is something you’re interested in, we’d love to hear from you.
For more information you can call Helen Pidcock, Senior External Communications Manager on 07889 103231.
Shortlisting for this post will take place w/c 27 January. And interviews will be held on 4 and 5 February.
