Assistant Team Manager- Safeguarding Team

Reporting to Team Manager in Adult Safeguarding Team, the Safeguarding Assistant Team Manager will be highly skilled in their field of social work.

As part of your role, you will support the team manager to lead, motivate and manage a team towards excellence through the provision of high quality social work services that they ensure are effective and high performing.  The assistant team manager will deputise for the for the team manager in their absence and represent the team at various meetings and groups. 

 You will:

• You will be responsible for the effective day to day delivery, management of resources and staff employed by Wakefield Council. You will play a key role in delivering high quality services and meeting performance targets for assessment and care management
• You will be responsible for allocation of work to staff (according to priorities) and responsibility for the management of work that is not allocated. The role will involve supervising Social Workers and Care Coordinators and managing and allocating the referrals that come to the team.
• To support the team manager in the day to day running of the team.
• To work in line with operational policy, procedures and guidance.
• Provide leadership, effective management and support to staff in the team manager’s absence.
• Support in the management of workload and the performance of the Team, support staff to deliver integrated, high quality services that meet service objectives and priorities and targets
• The allocation of work to staff (according to priorities) and responsibility for the management of work that is not allocated alongside the team manager.
• Implementing safeguarding policies and procedures.
• Complaints investigation and resolution with oversight of the team manager.

Essential requirements:

• Social Work Degree (or equivalent).
• Current registration with Social Work England (On-line)
• Substantial experience and evidence of consolidation of Social Work practice i.e. the practitioner is an expert in working with people within their service area (practice) and/or they supervise others who work with people in their service area.
• Full Driving Licence including Category B
• Successful completion of the Council’s driver Assessment Programme on Induction.
