Following a recent restructure of Wakefield Council’s Property, Facilities, Health & Safety Service, we have several vacant posts that we wish to fill to strengthen and increase our capacity to deal with current projects and the Council’s ambitious future plans to transform and modernise its property portfolio.
As part of this, we are now looking to recruit two experienced lease and transaction surveyors to join our friendly Real Estate team.
Wakefield district covers approximately 339 square kilometres and is home to around 353,000 people. Almost 70% of the Wakefield district is designated as green belt. The City of Wakefield is the largest settlement and the district also includes the towns of Normanton, Pontefract, Featherstone, Castleford, Knottingley, Ossett, Horbury, Hemsworth, South Kirkby and South Elmsall - as well as other smaller settlements. The district is home to several sites of national and international interest including the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Hepworth Gallery and the National Coal Mining Museum.
We manage an estate portfolio of over 1,500 assets and provide a wide range of services covering estate and asset management, Landlord and Tenant matters, valuation, acquisition, disposal and asset review work.
The lease and transactions surveyors will focus on lease event transactions (including rent reviews, lease renewals and regears, variations, landlord’s consents, etc.) as well as providing leasehold advisory services, arranging new lettings and overseeing a wide range of commercial landlord and tenant matters.
We work closely as an existing team and have an adaptable and flexible approach. Whilst office based in Wakefield, there is the opportunity for hybrid working, although the nature of the work does require the ability to both attend the office and visit assets and sites as required.
We have comprehensive property information records and systems, a property management database and GIS mapping system, with experienced administrative and technical support. The work is varied and fast paced and there is a collaborative culture within the team to ensure we can all bring our best to deliver the ambitious outcomes and solutions the Council requires.
We can offer support for candidates seeking professional qualification and there are opportunities for continual professional development throughout the year.
Further information on the role can be found in the Job Description.
