PHPRU is a Local Authority maintained school presently set across 6 small sites.  We provide high quality assessment and education for young people aged 2 to 19 years, who have a range of disabilities and medical issues, from across the Wakefield Metropolitan District.  Many of our pupils have complex needs including Autistic Spectrum Disorders, sensory impairment, challenging behaviour and physical difficulties. 

Due to opening another site at South Kirkby in September 2025 the Management Committee are seeking a caretaker to work across all sites, along with our existing Premises Supervisor.  We are looking for a friendly, pro-active person who is reliable, hardworking and well organised, with the necessary skills to perform basic repairs & maintenance, awareness of Health & Safety and Child Safeguarding

The overall purpose of the post is to take responsibility for the maintenance, cleanliness and security of the school sites.

Successful candidates will work a 37 hour week, Monday to Friday, full year round

We are looking for someone:

• To ensure compliance across all sites (buildings and vehicles)
• To undertaken basic repairs and maintenance and to liaise with other agencies, when necessary, to source additional support and relevant quotes
• To undertake necessary regular checks of the school fleet of vehicles
• To participate as a team member in the operation, promotion and development of PHPRU
• To support safeguarding in school
• To have a can-do attitude, sense of humour and to like children and young people
