An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent full time (37 hours) Social Work position within the Sensory Impairment Team.
You will play an important role in helping people live as independently as possible. You will be pro-active in signposting to relevant services. You will carry out person led assessments with people aged 18 and over with a sensory impairment (sight impairment, hearing impairment and Deafblind).
Part of this role will involve you taking responsibility for completing Care Act conversation assessments and developing person centred and outcome focused care and support plans. The successful applicant (if newly qualified) will be supported with progressing through a comprehensive ASYE programme to develop their practice.
The successful candidate will be joining a supportive, friendly and experienced team and will be provided with excellent support and induction.
The team consists of Social Workers, Rehabilitation Officers, Care Co-ordinators and covers both East and West of the district.
Wakefield Adult Social Care has implemented a Social Work Career Framework to support the professional development of its social work practitioners. This enables Social Workers who have successfully completed the ASYE Programme to be considered for progression to the role of Experienced Social Worker.
If you’ve already completed the ASYE Programme with your current employer, this must be evidenced at recruitment. Once you have consolidated your learning 2 years post ASYE Programme completion and demonstrated to us that you’re working at or significantly towards the level of an Experienced Social Worker as defined by the PCF, you are able to nominate yourself for progression with your managers endorsement.

Applicants for this role must be qualified to a Degree level or equivalent and be registered as a Social Worker with SWE registration. The successful person must be hold a valid and current drivers license and have the use of a car. These are essential requirements for this role.
