This is a temporary position for approx. 12 months maternity cover (start date January 2019)
We are looking for an experienced communications professional to lead our media relations function. The role will involve managing a team, providing day to day coordination and delivery of an high quality, fast-paced media service. The post will also support successful communications and marketing activity across the wider service, helping to deliver the Council's key priorities and build upon its reputation with employees, residents and partners.
It is essential that you have excellent media management experience, a strong news sense and the ability to manage and deliver a front-line reactive and proactive media service. You should have experience of working in a communications, PR or marketing team and ideally have relevant qualifications. Successful applicants should also have experience of planning and delivering successful communications work and using social media effectively as part of communication campaigns and activities. Strong communication skills and the ability to influence and negotiate with people at all levels are essential.
