The role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional person to play an important role in helping Wakefield residents fulfil their potential and forge better futures.
We are looking to appoint an exceptional manager to contribute to the strategic direction of the team and to provide operational leadership to the business development, commercialisation and career and progression delivery and support us on our journey to ‘outstanding’.
You will lead a team of Careers Information, Advice and Guidance Officers as well as managing the Business Development Team and others involved in developing commercial opportunities for the Adult Education Service.
Reporting to the Assistant Service Manager you will be responsible for achieving ambitious targets, resulting in improved employability options and careers & enterprise education across the district. You will also contribute to the development of future priorities and be involved in securing the required resources to successfully deliver those priorities.
The person
You will play a key role in the implementation of the Employment and Skills agenda for the Council and will need a detailed knowledge and understanding of local, regional and national skills and careers policy. Experience and understanding of Ofsted and the Education and Skills Funding Agency requirements for development of employment and skills programmes is essential.
You will have demonstrable experience of building excellent networks across organisations to influence their approach to career, employment and skills planning and enterprise activity.
You will be an excellent people manager, able to lead and motivate staff that are located remotely.
