Wakefield Youth Work Team is looking for enthusiastic and motivated Support Workers to support the Youth Work Team’s Active and Inspired Youth Programme in the Whitwood, Altofts, Pontefract Ackworth, North Elmsall and Upton areas
The Wakefield Council funded programme seeks to get children and young people more physically active and involve them in shaping local activities.
As a Support Worker, you will work with young people on the streets and in temporary pop-up youth clubs, building relationships and supporting young people to form youth advisory groups to work within their locality to plan, procure and spot purchase activity opportunities for young people to access.
You will encourage young people and volunteers to become local activity leaders to support the future sustainability of the project.
These posts are initially being offered on a temporary contract or secondment basis and will involve working regular evenings and occasional weekends.
As a Support Worker, you will be will be supported and managed by an experienced Youth Worker.
Whilst the post is neighbourhood based, Crofton Young People’s Centre is expected to be the office base.
