Part of West Yorkshire Joint Services, West Yorkshire Trading Standards is an exciting and fast paced organisation serving five District Councils within West Yorkshire – Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield.
We have an exciting opportunity for two Enforcement Officers in our Protecting Communities Team at Trading Standards. The team tackles all forms of financial abuse of vulnerable adults including doorstep crime, scams and fraud. Using a multi-agency approach, it undertakes complex criminal investigations, safeguarding victims and vulnerable adults in the community and also undertakes confiscation cases to remove assets from offenders and compensate victims. Alongside investigating criminality, the successful candidates will work with other key agencies including the Police and social workers to ensure that appropriate safeguarding measures are in place, whilst also liaising with victims of financial abuse to prevent further exploitation.
Duties include investigating offences under trading standards and fraud legislation, including conducting interviews under PACE 1984, collecting evidence and preparing case reports for potential prosecution, attending legal proceedings, safeguarding victims, undertaking awareness raising and prevention work, and advising businesses of their legal obligations relating to civil and criminal legislation.
