We are seeking a female Peer Support Worker to become a key part of our new Reconnect team. Peer Support Workers use their lived experience and knowledge acquired through their own experiences to provide information, support, and guidance to those experiencing similar circumstances. We are looking for a peer support worker with direct lived experience of the criminal justice and prison system to work in the Reconnect team, primarily to support women on release from prison and use their own lived experience to guide them back into support services within the community.
What is Reconnect?
The Reconnect Service supports individuals leaving prison to access the services they need. Reconnect offers support and release planning for people for up to 12 weeks before they leave prison, ensuring a safe transition from prison healthcare to community healthcare and other support services. The service offers support for up to 6 months post release, or until all their support needs are met, and utilises Peer Support Workers who can use their lived experience to increase engagement.
